WCFD staff recognizes that Parents are their children’s primary teacher and advocate. We encourage parents and families to be engaged in all aspects of their child’s education from birth to adulthood. Through specifically targeted family engagement activities, families are given various opportunities to become school ready and committed to lifelong learning. At WCFD we work with families to increase family well-being, encourage positive parent and child relationships and promote families as lifelong educators and learners. We work to engage families as advocates for their children and to become leaders in their communities. In addition we work with families to encourage their participation in their child’s transition into other educational settings.
Some of the activities families are engaged in are: Home visits, parent/teacher conferences, setting Family Goals, participation in the Policy Council and Center Parent Groups, volunteering in the classrooms, providing ideas for lesson plans and classroom studies, planning and participating in Father Engagement activities, and Family Nights.
